Understanding the Application of the New Spanish VAT Rates

Spain faces a new increase of Value added tax (VAT) rates as from September 1st, 2012.  The former increase took place two years ago, entering into force on July 1st, 2010, when the general rate was changed from the former 16 to an 18% and the reduced rate changed from 7 to 8%.
